Sony built this for people who want a sharper-than-usual gaming picture without giving up smooth motion. It's 27 inches at 4K resolution, which means text is crisp and game details pop more than the usual 1440p gaming monitors — think reading tiny item names or spotting distant enemies more clearly. The screen refreshes 160 times a second, so fast games still feel fluid even at this higher resolution.
The HDR here is the real thing. It has 96 dimming zones behind the screen that brighten and darken independently, so bright explosions actually look punchy against dark backgrounds instead of washing everything out. It's tuned to look natural with PlayStation 5 out of the box, but works just as well with a PC.
You're paying extra for the 4K sharpness and proper HDR. If you mostly play competitive shooters where every frame counts, a simpler 1440p screen at higher refresh makes more sense.
