This is a leftover from the era when monitors were square instead of wide. The 5:4 shape matches old business software that was designed before widescreen took over, so if you run ancient enterprise apps or need to see a full page of text without scrolling, the proportions work. Otherwise it's just awkward — too narrow for side-by-side windows, wrong shape for watching anything.
The screen is small and the picture quality is basic TN panel territory, which means washed-out colors and the image shifts if you look at it from an angle. It's dim, it's pixelated by modern standards, and there's no pretense of being good for anything beyond showing spreadsheets.
The only reason this exists today is for businesses replacing ancient setups or using specialized software locked to this shape. If that's not you, literally any modern monitor will be better.
